Abstract: The insecticidal activity of the essential oil from Artcmisia scoparia (Asteraceae)against Sitophilus zeamais was determined. By means of GC-MS analysis, 92 constituents were separated from the essential oil and 46 of them were identified. The predominant component of the essential oil was isolated and identified to be l-phenyl-2,4-hexadiyne which was found to be responsible for the insecticidal activity of the essential oil.
