A new blackfly species of Simulium (Simulium) from Guizhou Province, China (Diptera:Simuliidae)

Abstract

Abstract: A new species, Simulium(Simulium) prominentum sp. Nov. is described b ased on the pupal and larval specimens collected from Leigong Mountain Nature Re s erve, China. This new species seems to be related to S. (S.) sigiti (Takaoka and Hadi, 1991) from Indonesia, S. (S.) nigrifacies Datta (1974) from I ndia and S. (S.) puliense Takaoka (1979) from Taiwan,China. However, The new species is very distinctive among them in some features of larval and pupal stages.
