Abstract: A new species, Simulium(Simulium) prominentum sp. Nov. is described based on the pupal and larval specimens collected from Leigong Mountain Nature Reserve, China. This new species seems to be related to S(S.) sigiti (Takaoka and Hadi, 1991) from Indonesia, S(S.) nigrifacies Datta (1974) from India and S (S.) puliense Takaoka (1979) from Taiwan,China. However, The new species is very distinctive among them in some features of larval and pupal stages.
