E. onukii is an important pest in the main tea producing regions of China, with high fecundity and strong resistance to insecticides, and its main predatory natural enemies are spiders. Brochosome is a common excretion produced by the Malpighian tubules of Cicadellidae. In this issue, a study on E. onukii adults escaping from spider web via the detachment of brochosomes covering body surface was reported (pp. 213-222).
